Basic freight
In the supply chain, basic freight refers to the transportation charges associated with moving goods from one location to another. It is the base rate that covers the cost of transporting cargo, typically calculated based on factors such as the weight or volume of the goods, the distance traveled, and the mode of transportation used. Basic freight does not include additional charges or surcharges, which may be applicable for factors such as special handling, insurance, customs duties, or fuel adjustments. It forms the fundamental component of the overall freight cost and serves as a key consideration in logistics planning and cost analysis.
