We are thrilled to introduce Vizion’s new monthly product update. This content will provide insights into our latest projects, API enhancements, features under development, and more.
Starting in July, Vizion customers will have access to a distinct, product-specific newsletter designed to give you a front row seat into our product development, as well as exclusive access to beta features and roadmap priorities. To sign up for this separate newsletter, please complete this form and note in the comments section that you’re interested in product updates.
As the inaugural product update, let’s take a look at some key updates that launched in Q1, as well as details on the newest data source Vizion will introduce in Q2:
Port & Terminal Integrations
Pro customers have been able to take advantage of direct integrations with more than 60 terminals globally, at ports such as USLAX, USLGB, USNYC, NLRTM and more. For the full list, see our Supported Ports & Terminals page.
With these integrations, customers can view their Last Free Day at the terminal facility before demurrage begins to accrue, as well as key milestones such as when the container is available to be picked up, or, if (and which) holds might be preventing pickup.
Track by Booking
We’ve always prioritized ease of use and seamless data access, and we’ve taken taken a step further by beta launching the ability to track by a booking number for five of the world’s largest steamship lines (CMA-CGM, Maersk, MSC, Evergreen and ONE Line), making tracking exports easier than ever.
Auto-Carrier Identification (ACI) Enhancements
We’ve drastically improved the performance of ACI, ensuring that when you only know the container ID, Vizion will reliably return the most recent and accurate set of milestone events. With these enhancements, Vizion will search all supported carriers and compare the data returned from each to ensure the most recent set of milestones is returned, even if a container has gone into re-use with a new carrier.
Container Trace
Pro customers can now access an API endpoint that returns vessel movements for a provided container reference, which makes building a beautiful logistics software or application a reality. Additionally, this endpoint can be leveraged for identifying a container’s real-time location while on a vessel, even without the occurrence of a container event. Check out this video, where we build a track & trace interface from scratch in under 45 minutes.
Auto-Unsubscribe (Beta)
This opt-in feature leverages Shipment Completion Detection to automatically unsubscribe from a reference whose shipment is complete, ensuring a customer only receives the container milestones most relevant to them.
Early beta customers have identified this functionality as a form of “detention defense,” where the detection of a new shipment cycle acts as an end date of liability for equipment usage, even when a container’s “Gate in empty return” is never reported.
Additional Carrier Support
Due to high customer demand, we’ve added some new carriers:
- Matson
- SM Lines
- Sinokor
- RCL Group
- Korean Marine Transport Co
- Heung-A
Direct Integrations with Class I Railways
Vizion has established direct connections with Class I North American railways — Union Pacific, BNSF, CSX, Norfolk Southern, and others, offering a reliable source of truth for tracking containers as they traverse the continent by rail — without the need for a Letter of Authorization, enabling seamless integration for all Pro customers.
With this new data source, customers can see the ETA to an inland destination, in-transit events like arrivals & departures, Last Free Day, and Pickup Availability. If you’re interested in the beta program, spend one minute to fill out this form.
