When it comes to ocean freight, every day counts and gaining visibility into carrier reliability can make all the difference. That’s why more logistics teams are turning to real-time data to sharpen their planning and reduce uncertainty. At Vizion, our focus is on transforming raw container movement data into meaningful performance insights that help shippers and forwarders stay ahead. In 2024, we captured over 13.3 million container journeys across global trade lanes, drawing from a network of more than 230 data sources. We're now using that intelligence to publish a series of Carrier Performance Reports, each one revealing how accurately major ocean carriers hit their estimated time of arrival (ETA) targets. Unlike static sailing schedules, these ETAs represent the first real-time indicators shared after a container begins its journey, offering a more accurate view into how carriers are actually performing.
We’re excited to release three reports in a new series of Carrier Performance Reports designed to evaluate how well ocean carriers perform against their own estimated time of arrivals (ETAs). Vizion analyzed the accuracy of estimated time of arrivals (ETAs) provided by ocean carriers to better understand reliability and performance trends. ETAs differ from carrier schedules, in that they are the carrier's first operational information shared after a container departs origin.
Our latest addition to the series focuses on the Asia to South America trade lane, a vital but often unpredictable lane for global trade. This route has seen growing volume and strategic importance in recent years, yet performance data has remained scarce. In this new report, Vizion examines ETA accuracy across carriers operating on this lane, surfacing key patterns in transit times, port-to-port variability, and overall schedule reliability. The findings provide shippers and forwarders with the clarity needed to better manage lead times and mitigate delays in a trade lane that’s critical for everything from consumer goods to industrial supply.
What’s Inside the Reports?
Each report provides insights into carrier performance, including:
- ETA Accuracy – See the percentage of containers arriving on time versus delayed, along with the average number of days late.
- Transit Time Insights – Understand how long containers typically stay in transit, including average delays, broken down by carrier.
- Carrier Report Card – Quickly benchmark performance with letter grades (A to F) assigned to each carrier based on their reliability.
